The 化学 Department at 电子游戏软件 embraces the goal of achieving equitable representation by underrepresented minorities and women on our faculty and staff and within the ranks of our postdoctoral research associates, graduate students, and undergraduate student majors. We recognize that fundamental inequalities are introduced early in the 教育al process and persist throughout all levels of the university. As a department, we are undertaking specific, concrete actions to enhance racial and gender 股本 at all levels.
We are particularly proud of chemistry outreach activities for students at all stages of learning. We seek to engender an interest in science in younger students by engaging their natural curiosity and wonder with the physical world. Through campus visits and summer research laboratory opportunities, we seek to challenge and inspire older students to pursue careers in the chemical sciences.
Women in Science and Technology
Beginning in 2006, the Women in Science and Technology 程序 (WST) has brought together hundreds of female students from Boston-area high schools for a month-long weekend program of research, 讲座, 实地考察旅行, and the opportunity to meet mentors and role models from scientific disciplines.
P2P: Paper 2 Plastics
The “Paper to Plastics” program, spearheaded by Professors Eranthie Weerapana and Jeffery 拜尔 in the Department of 化学, is a program that unites chemistry and biology to engage young female and underrepresented minorities in scientific research.
