Master of Arts 程序
M.A. 用英语 is a standalone, two-year 程序 that provides a challenging and wide-ranging intellectual experience rooted in the richness of literary study.

M.A. students have access to a full range of 课程 across genres and historical periods, from medieval poetry to the contemporary American novel, as well as seminars in a variety of theoretical approaches including performance and post-colonial studies. The 程序 encourages interdisciplinary study in American Studies and Irish Studies, and our faculty regularly introduce new 课程, drawing on their research interests in areas such as visual culture, literary non-fiction, and digital humanities.
The 英语 MA 程序 at Boston College provides students a challenging intellectual experience that maintains a core focus on exploring the richness of literary study. It also offers plentiful opportunities to acquire skills applicable to a wide range of academic and professional settings. Through their course of study, candidates should be able to:
- read texts closely;
- write more capably;
- demonstrate familiarity with varied and current theoretical approaches;
- gain more knowledge about advanced research practices;
- attain a thorough understanding of historical periodization.
The 英语 MA 程序 is explicitly designed to be a two-year standalone degree 程序. In the second year, selected applicants have the opportunity to design and teach their own college writing course both semesters, for which they receive training, faculty mentoring, and ongoing support and instruction. 学生 also have the opportunity to work with accomplished faculty in literature 课程, gaining hands-on experience teaching literature, administering complex assignments, and designing specific lessons.

Boston College also offers an accelerated B.A./M.A. 程序 that enables qualified undergraduates to earn a B.A. 用英语 and an M.A. 用英语 in five 年.
学生 in BC's Lynch School of Education and Human Development who are interested in teaching 英语 at the secondary level can apply to earn an Master's of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) 用英语, in collaboration with the 英语 Department.
